And while these conversations can seem awkward, they are important and shouldn’t be avoided. New Awakening UMC in St. Louis, MO has set out to help parents talk to their kids about these sticky situations in fun and engaging ways.

Visit Ashland United Methodist Church in St. Joseph during football season, and you’ll learn quickly that you’ve entered Chiefs territory. The congregation is often decked out in red and gold, and Lead Pastor, Rev. Doug Walter, ends every service with a hearty, “Go Chiefs!” But in the Fall of 2023, Director of Youth Ministries, Tom Keller, had a crazy idea to bring a new kind of fandom to Ashland.
